A Worthy Time Waster

Okay, okay, I know, distractions are deadly to the writing life and shouldn’t be shared amongst us wannabe authors. But, darn it, this one’s a lot of fun. If you want a break from the stultifying blue-white world of Microsoft Word, give Langman a try, an investing variant on hangman. Part puzzle, part old-school platformer, the game has you guiding a little green man (a graphical nod to those old, two-color monitors) across lettered blocks in an attempt to ferret out a mystery word. Pick the right ones and you get extra guesses; select the wrong one and quite literally the floor starts falling out from underneath you. The mechanics really get interesting in the later levels when the blocks are arranged into anything from diamond to key shapes, forcing some strategic selection. Click here to give Langman a try.
