A filigree of sweat lined Peter's upper lip. "The world is a rat trap. No matter which way you squirm, it'll crush you."
"You don't think what we do factors into it?" Julius said. "Death row isn't full of saints."
A siren began to scream.
"Cops," Peter hissed. "Of course they'd show up now."
Julius eyed the speedometer. "It's because we're twenty over the limit."
"Yeah? Well, make it thirty, Andretti. I might've done the crime, but there's no way I'm down for the punishment." He racked the shotgun. "Unless you want to share it."
"I'm driving, boss. I'm driving."
