Phraselet No. 128

For a Pickering, it is a long, multi-course meal to swallow one's pride. It often takes a selection of wines, possibly with brandy to follow.

It's a fun story overall. I think I've added Lightspeed to my "listen-to-while-driving" list.

I'm really liking Lightspeed. Like Clarkesworld, its podcast has great production values, but the stories are slightly more popular in style. John Joseph Adams does a great job.

Yeah. I'm pretentious enough that Clarkesworld is the magazine I'd most like to see my byline in. But Lightspeed is a nice reminder that there is another half of the speculative genres, and that stories can be published for the simple fact that they are fun.

Now, don't get me wrong! I enjoy Clarkesworld. The mag has even contributed to The Middle Shelf.
