Garsh ...

Loyal readers, may I confess something? Praise both delights and embarrasses me, particularly when it comes to my writing. That's why I'm simultaneously pleased and abashed to announce that in the past month I Saw Lightning Fall has received a pair of awards. Lars and Phil of Brandywine Books bestowed upon yours truly the Premio Duo Award, and Aerin of In Search of Giants ponied up a Your Blog Is Fabulous Award. (But, Aerin, I'm curious about something: How did you get a picture of me with my shirt off for your badge?)

In the spirit of giving back, here are a few blogs -- in addition to the two worthies above -- that I truly enjoy ...

Like mysteries? Then it would be a crime to miss out on
Detectives Beyond Borders, the brainchild of Philly-based copy editor Peter Rozovsky, or Tuna Carpaccio P.I., a weekly Web comic about the misadventures of a chronically incompetent investigator.

King Solomon
wrote, "Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh." But you wouldn't know it from Things Mean a Lot or The Bluestocking Society where reviews fly fast and furious and reading challenges topple with appalling speed. I get tired just watching.

Literary miscellany refreshes the mental palate, and I like to get servings of it from The Maple Mountain Story Club (where Wodehouse-ish humor abounds) or The Winding Road to Roundabout (which has a more speculative focus).

Finally, something a little different. I’ve always yearned for a measure of artistry, but I do better with a pen than a paintbrush. For vicarious graphical indulgence, I go to Justin Gerard’s Quick Hide Here and Cory Godbey’s Light Night Rains
where I can watch the creation of mythical beings from the first sketch on.

Thanks for the mention! (Although now I feel I ought to post more frequently--well, Spring Break is on the way!)

Yes, more-frequent posting is a must, I fear. Your stuff is interesting. Keep it coming!

Jessica, I had never known that anything like reading challenges existed until I read yours and Nymeth's blogs. I'm perpetually impressed with the breadth of your all's reading. (Aerin's, too.)
