I haven't read The October Country (yet!), but I just love Bradbury's writing.
Read it. Seriously and especially if you like M.R. James. It's my favorite Bradbury, just creepy enough to mediate some of his trademark sentimentality. (I'm thinking of his more treacly works like Dandelion Wine and I Sing the Body Electric.)
